Sunday 17th April was a lovely spring day which saw more than 200 runners turn up at Birmingham’s Cannon Hill Park to take part in the first Birmingham Zebra Run. Entrants included children as young as four years, to adults who have now retired – and everyone in between.
Little Theo Baker in the orange (Tiger? or Zebra?) striped suit was the youngest runner with a PID and Nichola Parkes (both pictured) was the other.
Theo (and his Mum) ran the 1k Children’s Race and Nichola ran in the 5k event and of her own initiative added some £300 to the money raised.
The whole event was thoroughly enjoyable and although further funds are due within the coming month we do know £3,575.26 was raised on the day for UKPIPS to continue its work in Primary Immune Deficiency.
A huge thank you from all of us to runners, organisers and those who passed by on their Sunday morning walk and left a donation in our collecting boxes. You all contributed to make the day an outstanding success!
We’ll definitely be doing another Zebra Run – so watch this space.
