Dr Sadia Noorani MBBS MRCP FRCPath(immuology) completed her immunology training at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital.
Sadia is currently Consultant Clinical Immunologist at Sandwell and West Birmingham (SWBH) NHS Trust. She established the immunodeficiency service in 2009 at this Trust and leads the immunology laboratory with the aim of improving diagnostic services for immunological conditions.
Sadia and her team are great advocates of Telehealth and providing patients easy access to their health records and their specialist team. The team is also involved in supporting education and increasing awareness of immunodeficiency at all levels of healthcare and have organised many successful patient and health professional group meetings with focus on immunodeficiency.
The SWBH NHS Trust immunodeficiency service offers the option of home therapy training or ward-based immunoglobulin replacement and other complex treatments. The team is very keen to provide new treatment options that improve the quality of life for patients as soon as these become available. As patients come from a wide geographical area, the team liaises with their local specialist team regularly and is happy to support specialist treatment at these local hospitals to provide flexibility to patients. Sadia’s team works closely with respiratory and other specialists for shared care of patients when the involvement of these specialists is required.
Sadia also provides consultant support and advice to clinicians in the region with regard to further investigations for possible diagnosis of immunodeficiency and other immunological diseases. She supports immunology diagnostics in a wide area covering hospitals in Shrewsbury, Telford, Burton and the Black Country.
