David McNally left high school at age 19 hoping to join the Royal Air Force as an Air Traffic Controller. No vacancies with the RAF lead to him taking a temporary position with Lloyds Bank. He retired from Lloyds 40 years later, in August 2013 and now runs his own one-man pet-sitting business.
He was born and raised in Redditch and moved to Evesham when he was 30 to marry Angela. They are now divorced, but have an adult son, Simon, and are great friends and still ‘hang out’ together.
He loves animals, especially dogs, and enjoys walking. His main hobby is anything to do with aviation, and although not a pilot himself has had close associations with a number of hot air balloon groups.
He was an active member of Redditch Lions for almost 20 years, preferring to be a ‘player’ rather than an ‘organiser’, although he enjoyed his roles as Treasurer and Secretary on a number of occasions.
He came into his current role as Treasurer of UKPIPS in the Summer of 2013 as a temporary stand-in when Geoff Moore had to move abroad with his work. The Group were desperately looking for a more permanent replacement. He hopes that this role is not as ‘temporary’ as his career with Lloyds Bank turned out to be!
